Dancing With Our Destiny

This wall relief, sculpted in Jerusalem ceramic and embellished with touches of precious platinum and 24-karat gold, is a work of metaphorical art. It depicts Chassidic Jews dancing in a street that morphs from one of the wooden huts of the European Diaspora to the old stone buildings of Jerusalem, and then slopes upward to become the bustling Jerusalem of today. The figure of the child, dressed in the clothing of the European exile and eager to join the dance, adds another dimension of time and poignancy to the scene.
